Wet Dispersion

Suspensions, emulsions, gels and even bubbles should be recorded as product-appropriate in liquid, or disperse systems that are available wet. Due to the comparative ease of dispersion in liquid media, wet analysis came into use before dry dispersion, and is widely used. When stirring and pumping over in wet measurement circuits, often the resistance (pressure and frictional forces) and inertia forces created by the acceleration and upstream flow of the particles is sufficient for even dispersion. If necessary, dispersion can also be reinforced through treatment with ultrasound (cavitation forces) and the use of dispersants to stabilise the dispersion.

The optical concentration of a suspension or emulsion provided for measurement in a cuvette can be adapted for the relevant measurement process. To achieve this, there is the option of varying the liquid volume, or using cuvette types with different irradiation depths which determine the strength of the liquid film.

Our wet dispersers offer analysis volumes of up to 6 ml to several litres. The irradiation depth ranges from 30 µm to 20 mm. Suspensions with tiny sample quantities of just a few milligrams, up to several grams, are reliably dispersed and analysed in the broad spectrum of different liquid volumes and film strength. Our flexible wet disperses cover particles ranging from 0.1 µm to over 10 mm, and also offer options for the dispersion of high-density particles. Aggressive liquids can also be used as dispersion medium with special substances. Selected wet measurement cells have an integrated ultrasonic generator and, if required, can also be fitted with temperature controls. An appropriate disperser is available for almost any wet application.

SUCELL is a fully automated wet disperser, that is fitted with ultrasound for particle size analysis of a suspension or stable emulsion, ranging from 0.1 µm to around 2,000 µm in size. It pumps and analyses volume of 500 ml through a flow cuvette in a closed circuit, and can be used with all sensors of the HELOS laser diffraction family and with the QICPIC image analysis sensor.

Disperser for suspension, emulsion, gels

QUIXEL is a universal and fully automatic wet dispersion system with an integrated ultrasound generator and optional temperature control. It was developed for particle size analysis on suspensions and emulsions ranging from 0.1 µm to 3,500 µm, using HELOS laser diffraction. Its innovative, tubeless design enables very short measurement cycles, guarantees high chemical resistance, and offers a variable analysis volume from 250 ml to 1,000 l.

The wet dispersion system CUVETTE has been specially developed for the particle size analysis of smallest quantities with HELOS laser diffraction. It masters suspensions and emulsions with particles from 0.1 µm to 3,500 µm. The sintered stationary glass cuvettes are extremely chemically resistant and offer a minimum of either 6 ml sample volume (with manual stirrer) or 50 ml sample volume (with magnetic stirrer and ultrasonic finger).

Disperser for suspensions and emulsions

With its open and modular design, LIXELL is the most versatile wet dispersion system for the usage in dynamic image analysis with QICPIC, covering a size range from under 1 µm up to 2,000 µm. Using different cuvettes and accessories, countless applications can be realised, starting at a sample volume of 20 ml.

Disperser for coarse particles in liquids

Image analysis of coarse suspensions with particles ranging from 10 µm to over 10,000 mm can be tapped with the large volume flow through cuvette FLOWCELL in combination with QICPIC.
